// Why we founded Eventscope

A September evening in London, 2003.

Eventscope founders, Hetty and Ewan, were sat in Pizza Express discussing a fundamental problem in the conference and events industry.

They had earlier been to a popular technology conference and thoroughly enjoyed the programme – yet had not managed to meet with many other attendees. Like most delegates, Hetty and Ewan had not ‘worked the room’ for contacts and at the end of the conference, found they had connected with only a few of the many delegates.

The conference organizer was unwilling to provide an attendee contact list, citing both commercial imperative and data protection policies.

With a background in creating and delivering easy to use software for online internet communities, Hetty and Ewan put their minds toward developing a system that conference producers could offer to their attendees to solve this problem.
